The McChallenge - In Honour of Oliver Tapp

By Brad Tapp

I’m fundraising to support the families of sick kids

Intermittently over an 18 month period my family and I were treated to warmth and comfort by the RMHC chapter in Hobart while our son Ollie was cared for at the Royal Hobart Hospital.

This home away from home was a great factor in us being able to spend time with our child without the stress of finding somewhere to stay.

The warmth and comfort I mentioned is provided to a constant flow of families coming in and out of the house, and is a save haven for those who are dealing with the stress and worry of having a sick child, or experiencing pregnancy with potential or confirmed complications outside the scope of regional hospitals.

As a yearly commitment throughout the month of November, I'll be embarking on challenges that take me out of my comfort zone, all in a bid to raise funds for Ronald McDonald House Australia.

Stay tuned!

The Inaugural McChallenge!

Wednesday 22nd Oct
In honour of our late son Oliver Tapp, I've decided to start an annual event to raise funds for Ronald McDonald House.

This charity means so much to my family and I. RMHC Hobart was the one solid constant and sense of normalcy in a whirlwind of stress and fatigue during Ollie's admissions to the Royal Hobart Hospital.

RMHC Hobart kept clean clothes on our backs, food in the fridge and a comfortable place to sleep for many consecutive weeks over seperate periods of time.

After being given so much, it's our turn to give back. In true Ollie spirit, I'm organising (and partaking) in two challenges, one to push the limits, and one to push the comfort zone:

1. The Big Mac Challenge (McHappy Day, November 15th 2025)

2. The McChallenge 2025 (November 29th 2025)

The McChallenge will be an alternating challenge each year that pushes myself and others out of their comfort zone, all in the aid of putting a smile on some faces and raising money for RMHC VIC/TAS.

Details are still to be confirmed, but this year I'll be doing something I've never done before; having my head shaved down to (nearly) nothing.

There will be guest appearances from friends and family for The McChallenge, with an event arranged to conclude the fundraiser.

I look forward to seeing how this evolves over the course of the next few weeks and updating you all with more details of the upcoming events.

McHappy Day is fast approaching, and right now you can purchase silly socks, bucket hats and helping hands from McDonald's right up until the 15th of November.
